My mentor, Alyssa Nobriga, often says something that stops me in my tracks every time:
"If you judge something, you're stuck with it."
Let that sink in. 🙂
The First 40 Years… and the Next
I feel like my first 40 years of life were all about learning judgment—from culture, from media, from religion, from family, from my ego, from fear.
And now, in this second half of life, I’m learning how to let go of all those judgements.
I’m 44 now, and here’s what I can say with confidence:
Letting go of judgment has been the gateway to everything I’ve ever wanted:
Love
Acceptance
Belonging
Worthiness
Joy
Peace
Connection
Freedom
The list goes on.
Judgment cuts me off from all of it. Whether it’s judgment toward others, my circumstances, or most often—toward myself.
So How Do You Let Go of Judgment?
One word:
Acceptance.
Radical Acceptance.
This is the key to accessing the very things we crave most.
Because acceptance opens.
Judgment closes.
Watching People Open
This is my favorite part of coaching clients right now—supporting them through the powerful process of acceptance.
There’s a moment I love: when someone grants themselves the acceptance they didn’t even know they were needing… and you can see them soften, open, expand—right before your eyes.
It’s everything.
If You Feel Stuck…
Ask yourself:
How might I be judging this?
What would it feel like to offer acceptance instead?
